"Emo" The Tiger

By: Breanna M
There has been a current increase in the production of white tigers in a few tiger facilities around the world. These facilities are for the improper breeding of white Bengal tigers. This breeding is a very current thing and is happening today. It is happening because only 1 out of 10,000 tigers are naturally born white, so breeders are trying to up the odds and make more white tigers with unnatural births. Breeders are also trying to keep the gene of "white" in the tiger family. To be bred over and over again against an animals will is unnatural and can hurt the animal. So to help with the situation, two adults by the names of Bud De Young and Carrie Cramer are one of the organizations who are helping by owning a private zoo in the middle of nowhere to help save these animals. Bud and Carrie are trying close down breeding facilitys and open up rehabb centers for animals with birth defects from this or have been bred in one of these "warehouses". They are also helping by getting male and female tigers fixed. One special animal getting fixed is a white Bengal tiger by the name of "Emo"(above right). Emo was born in a breeding facility with his brother(above left), just like his parents. Carrie found out about the new birth and transported the animal to her zoo after a long court case debate over which place is best suited for Emo. Emo is now 2 and 1/2 years old and is now getting fixed; just in case he gets loose. It is obvious that unusual/unnatural breeding for white Bengal tigers is a current issue and that we need to fix it.
