The month of love turns to disaster for QLD (Queensland) on the 1st week of February queensland was hit with a terrible cyclone. while her in Denver we were missing school because of a snow storm queensland was missing school because of a major cyclone.On Feb. 2 at 03:35 UTC/1:35 p.m. Australia local time, the moderate Resolution  (MODIS) instrument on NASA's aqua detector captured a visible image of Cyclone Yasi before it made landfall in Queensland, Australia. The eye of the Cyclone was very clear and indicative of the power of this tropical cyclone. Damaged buildings, downed trees and power outages have been reported. The Cyclone warning is still in effect today.Rainfall exceeded 60 mm (2.36 inches) in one hour and pressure had fallen to near 938 millibars. Australia's deadliest cyclone occurred March 4th 1899 when a cyclone hit bathhurst bay (north of cooktown) and caused a major storm which took the life of about 307 Australians.-Alexis R.
