Tsunami and Earthquake in Japan

Last year in March there was a devastating tsunami and earthquake struck in march in Japan. Only 42 people have been found from being buried. Exactly, 1,597 people have been killed from the natural disaster, but they believe more people have been buried or washed away by waves. There were about 2,000 bodies found on the shores of Miyagi prefecture. CNN's Sandra Endo hosted the event on May 22, 2011 in New York's Central Park. Some organizations donated $50,000 or more to help, such as: All Nippon Airways Co., Ltd; ITO EN (North America) INC.; Mitsubishi International Corporation, Mitsui & Co. (U.S.A.), Inc.; Mizuho Financial Group, Sumitomo Corporation of America Foundation, and Toyota Motor North America, Inc. Thousands of people showed up showing support to Japan, helping raise money and support. There were tents set up with free Japanese food, fun games, calligraphy traditional toys, origami, & video games. Japan day is a day to show Japan our support and love, and also to understand the concept of Japanese culture. By: Leah N.
